I love LEOs was founded on November 11, 2022, but it truly started before that. On March 22, 2021, tragedy struck Boulder, Colorado in the form of a mass shooting. On that day, City of Boulder Police Officer Eric Talley was among the ten beautiful souls lost. Once my Mom and I heard about it we knew we had to do something, we just didn't know what. Then we saw a square of cardboard on the floor of our mudroom and we did know what to do. I broke out my markers and started writing messages of encouragement on the cardboard. That night we went to the Boulder Police Department with our signs to show them how much they were loved. We went to the department every day for the next couple of months with our signs, different every time, no matter the weather or previous plans. In that time the police department accepted us into their close-knit family and took me under their wing. With much support and encouragement from the department, my family, my friends, and with the blessing of the Talley family; I love LEOs was born.

Gil Gilmore is 13 years old (11 when he founded I Love LEOs) and is in 8th grade in his homeschool program Classical Conversations. Gil lives in Niwot, Colorado with his Mom, Susan, and dog, Maverick. He enjoys building airplanes, flying, playing baseball, and golfing. Gil's grandfather was in Law Enforcement and Gil aspires to join Law Enforcement like his grandfather. He would like to do so in the air by piloting planes, helicopters, or drones. Officer Talley was also one of the founding members of the drone team at the City of Boulder Police Department.
Susan, Gil's Mom, supports Gil and I Love LEOs by serving on the board and ensuring I Love LEOs day to day operations flow smoothly. Susan has a background in event coordinating, human resources, and non-profit management. However, her greatest joy is her son Gil. He is the light that the world needs, he is a problem solver, he is ambitious, and is dedicated to bridging the gap between Law Enforcement and the communities they serve. Susan is honored to serve on the board, represent Gil's voice in the community, and help manifest this dream.
